Our Team
Eric Kwame Agoe – Founder and Director
I was born and raised in Kissemah Village on the outskirts of Ghana's capital city, Accra. Orphaned and abandoned at a young age, I was forced to drop out of school due to my inability to pay school fees. I began working as a market boy in Malata market at Accra to earn money to pay my own school fees. Thanks be to God I was able to complete my junior high school education due to my own desire to be educated.
I firmly believe my personal lack of education, as well as others in my community is a major cause in keeping the cycle of poverty alive in Ghana. The mission and vision of Mawuvio's Outreach Programme stems directly from my personal childhood experiences. It is my dream and desire that the next generation in my community do not grow up suffering and uneducated like I did. |

Renee Farwell – Founder and Director
I was born and raised in the state of Iowa, USA. While attending Roosevelt University - Chicago, I received the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Ghana - Legon in August 2009 as an ISEP student. While overseas, I intended to do some volunteer work in addition to studying. A chance meeting with Kwame Agoe, who was working at the university at the time, I visited Kissemah village and the street youth Agoe was working to educate.
After meeting Agoe and partnering with him to establish Mawuvio's Outreach Programme, I realized that working in Ghana, teaching and caring for children is my calling. I use my personal experiences to empower MOP youth to become successful adults. |

Barbara Farwell – Treasurer
I was born and raised in Iowa, USA. Since its inception, I have assisted my daughter Renee Farwell in establishing Mawuvio's Outreach Programme. My first visit to Ghana in 2010 brought me even closer to the organization being able to experience all the stories I had heard from my daughter.
I assist Renee and Kwame as a mentor and treasurer for the organization and am personally driven to help both the staff and students of MOP achieve their dreams. |

Florian Bernhart – Board member and MOP contact in Austria
Florian Bernhart is a native to Frastanz, Austria, and was volunteering in the summer of 2012 for some months as a teacher at Mawuvio's Outreach Programme. After a short time he realized that the students, the staff and the organization at large are very special and unique. Convinced by the aims and the vision of MOP he returned to Ghana in the summer of 2013 to volunteer again. Back home in Austria he supports MOP by fundraising and collecting donations in kind, as well as by doing publicity work.

School Staff
Ivy Adzoa Drah - Nursery & Kindergarten Class Teacher (Kisseman)
I was born and raised at Akrofu Agove Village in the Volta Region of Ghana. I attended primary school at Akrofu – Agove E.P. where I completed junior high school in 2004. I continued on to senior high school at Peki (PESCO) from 2005 to 2008. Upon completing Senior High School, I moved to Kisseman in the Greater Accra Region.
In 2015 I gained employment as a KG2 (kindergarten) class teacher at MOP. I choose to work with MOP because I have the passion in helping children achieve their goals and MOP is the place where I can do this. Furthermore, I like MOP because it is a well organized institution which has the aim of helping needy but brilliant children in our community which I think is the best way to prevent child labour, trafficking and children living on the streets. I aspire to become a professional teacher in the future therefore working with MOP is a great opportunity for me to meet my own professional goals. |
Cecilia Avorseh - Cook (Kisseman)
I am a long time resident of Kisseman Village - Greater Accra Region. I am a retired cook from the dining hall at the University of Ghana (Legon) and the mother of Eric Kwame Agoe. Everyday I prepare lunch for the Kisseman day students as well as any volunteers residing at Mawuvio's Outreach Programme Kisseman.
I have always enjoyed cooking and am glad to be cooking at MOP to keep me active in my retirement. |
